Steve Sue

Steve Sue is one of those guys who knows a little bit about a lot of things: he’s therefore fairly useless, except perhaps as a seeker of truly accomplished people. That said, he’s infinitely curious, completely extroverted and always ready for action.
Steve’s single claim to fame is that he’s the worldʻs leading expert on the Shaka gesture. He acquired deep knowledge on the subject as the producer/writer/questor of the film, “Shaka, A Story of Aloha,” a feature-length documentary that explores the origins, meanings and uses of the Shaka. The film won acclaim as the Peopleʻs Choice Award at the 2024 Hawai’i International Film Festival, went on to many other film festivals and ignited Project Shaka, a movement featuring programs to share aloha through the Shaka including the film, Free Shaka Stickers, “Add Aloha” corporate workshops, school curriculum, Shaka Hawaiiʻs Official State Gesture, Hawaii DMV Shaka License Plate, collab products, Shaka Monuments and Shaka Stars. All Project Shaka programs are produced by nonprofit, ID8 (ide•ate), a Hawaii-based 501C3 organization where Steve serves as Chairperson. For more on Steve, see stevesue.com »
